How to Start SSC CHSL 2017-18 Preparation?

SSC-CHSL notification for the year 2017-18 was released on 17th November 2017, all the aspirants who are preparing for the SSC-CHSL exam would have increased their effort and time of practice. What is SSC-CHSL Exam?

The Staff Selection Commission(SSC) conducts Combined Higher Secondary Level examination for the candidates who are 10+2 pass. The SSC-CHSL Tier I Examination is tentatively scheduled for 4th March 2018 to 26th March 2018. This means that you have only a few months left for your preparation and to secure a seat for yourself.
In this post, we will focus more on SSC-CHSL 2017-18 Tier I exam and discuss a few tips to start your preparation for the SSC-CHSL 2017-18 exam.

How to Prepare for SSC-CHSL 2017-18:

  1. Make a Study Schedule: Before starting your SSC-CHSL 2017 preparation make a study schedule for yourself. Make sure the study plan includes mock tests, sectional tests, revision, news hours etc. Plan your study hours in advance so that you can follow it and stick to it to crack SSC-CHSL 2017-18 successfully.

  • Tips to prepare for each section of the SSC-CHSL Exam:

-> General Intelligence - This section of the SSC-CHSL Exam focuses more on conceptual and factual knowledge rather than practice and intellectual approach. Hence, you should focus more on concepts by regularly practising questions from general intelligence. The simplest way to crack this section is to get as much practice as possible. This section is known to be time-consuming if not practised well. This is the reason why you must master all the smart methods to solve questions from this section.

-> Quantitative Aptitude: The quantitative section of the SSC-CHSL exam is designed to test your knowledge of numbers. You should practice questions from the topics such as whole numbers, decimals, fractions, relationship, between the numbers, percentage, ratio and proportion, square roots, averages, interest, profit and loss, discounts, partnership, mixtures and alligation etc. You should be able to develop a strong memory power to remember the formulae. Practice as much as you can and master all smart methods and techniques to solve quantitative questions in the SSC-CHSL 2017-18 Exam.

-> English Comprehension - The English Language section of the SSC-CHSL exam is the most avoided section. Ensure that you don't make the same mistake. Don't leave the section for the last moment. Devote minimum 1.5 hours to this section daily. Start building your basics and learn as many new words as you can. You must focus on Improving Sentences, Spotting Errors, Synonyms and Antonyms, and Fill in the Blanks.

-> General Awareness: This section is the easiest section which contains questions from all the activities happening around the world. The only trick to ace this section is by reading the Newspaper daily and staying updated with the news. Hence, read newspapers every day and keep yourself abreast with the current affairs and major events across the country.

2. Practice - The key Strategy: 'Practice makes a man perfect'. Practice is the only key to success. Practice as many questions you can before the exam from each topic, to achieve perfection. The more you will practice the more your chances to crack SSC-CHSL Exam.

3. Time Management -  SSC-CHSL is an exam with a time constraint. It is an exam where you race against time. It is extremely important that you learn how to manage time in the examination so that you leave no stone unturned.
General Intelligence and Reasoning - 25 minutes
General Awareness - 10 minutes
Numerical Aptitude - 25 minutes
English Comprehension - 15 minutes

4. Mock Test - Now that  SSC CHSL exam has gone online it is important for you to get familiar with an interface similar to that of the examination. Not only that, a mock test helps you to keep a track of your preparation and helps you identify your weaknesses and strengths. Therefore, make sure that you take at least 1 mock test and 3 sectional tests a week.

5. Health - More than anything in this world, Health is what is important. You should take care of your physical health before appearing for the SSC-CHSL 2017 exam. If you are not fit before the exam then it will affect your preparation and performance. Hence, make sure that you take care of your health.
