Telangana makes Urdu an Official Language of the State

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao declared Urdu as the state's second official language. Every office in the state will now have an Urdu speaking officer. According to the CM, the demand to make Urdu a second language had been there for a long time. Mr.E.S.L. Narasimhan is the current Governor of the State.

National Entrepreneurship Awards 2017 presented   
        
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship announced the National Entrepreneurship Award 2017. A total of 15 awards under various categories were given away plus several awards under the categories of Best Employer in the PSU sector, Private Sector besides various heads of Champion Sector Skill Council.

Delhi signs twin city agreement with Seoul   

The Delhi government signed a twin city agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for strengthening cooperation in the fields of e-governance, transportation, climate change and smart city. The agreement 'Establishment of Friendship City Relationship' was signed between Seoul (South Korea) Metropolitan Government led by Mayor Park Won Soon and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The agreement now needs the Union governments approval to come into effect.     
The capital of South Korea is Seoul and its currency is the  South Korean won.

Organic World Congress 2017 inaugurated in New Delhi 

The three-day Organic World Congress – 2017 was inaugurated in Greater Noida on 9th November 2017 and it will go on until 11th November. It will see the participation of 1,400 representatives from 110 countries, and 2000 delegates from India. The Organic World Congress (OWC) is organized once every three years in a different country. The last edition of the Organic World Congress took place in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2014.
  
Natalie Portman wins Jewish Nobel Prize      

Natalie Portman has been awarded Israel’s 2018 Genesis Prize in recognition of her commitment to social causes and deep connection to her Jewish and Israeli roots. The $1 million award, known as “the Jewish Nobel Prize,” is granted each year to a person recognized as an inspiration to the next generation of Jews through professional achievement and commitment to Jewish values. Ms. Portman is the fifth winner and first woman to receive the prize.     
l  The Prime Minister of Israel is Benjamin Netanyahu and its capital is Jerusalem.     
l  Natalie Portman- won the 2011 Best Actress Academy Award for “Black Swan”.

First ever Nordic-Baltic Youth Film Festival to be held in India    

The Nordic-Baltic embassies will host the first ever youth film festival of the European nations in Delhi showcasing movies from the region. The 6-Day long festival will run in collaboration with the India Habitat Centre. The Nordic-Baltic countries Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden, or NB8 are tied together geographically and historically through trade, culture and many common value systems.

Federal Bank gets RBI permission to open offices in Singapore and Kuwait 

Federal Bank has obtained RBI approval to open representative offices in Kuwait and Singapore. The bank has been the preferred banker for NRIs and the NRI friendly measures have resulted in the increased inflow of foreign remittances. The bank already has its representative offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and it has tied up with 110+ overseas banks/remittance partners. It has already received approval from RBI for opening a branch in DIFC, Dubai and a representative office in Bahrain, the setting up of which is under process.

l  The capital of Kuwait is  Kuwait City and its national currency is the  Kuwaiti Dinarn which is the world's highest-valued currency unit.

GST Council reduces GST on 228 items
      
Out of 228 items in the 28% tax bracket, 178 have been put into the lower tax category of 18%, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced at a press briefing after the GST Council meet in Guwahati on 10th November 2017. Detergent, marble floorings, toiletries are among items shifted to the 18% tax bracket from 28%, Mr. Jaitley said. The modified rates will come into force on November 15.
  
November 10th- World Immunisation Day     

November 10th is World Immunization Day. This day is celebrated to make people aware of the importance of getting timely vaccinations against vaccine-preventable diseases.



Roger Federer Wins ATP Tour Award 2017  

The ATP World Tour Awards presented by Moet & Chandon honours the season's best players and tournaments, as determined by the players and Emirates ATP Rankings. Roger Federer’s 2017 season has been recognized with three ATP World Tour Awards. The 36-year-old Swiss player takes his record tally to 36 awards since 2003.  Federer has been selected by fans as ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favourite for a 15th straight year and voted by fellow players as the winner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award and Comeback Player of the Year. This is the first time that he has won the Comeback Award.      
Neville Godwin has been chosen as the winner of Coach of the Year in the 2017 ATP World Tour Awards. Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan have been voted by fans as the ATPWorldTour.com Fans’ Favourite.
