First National Canine Seminar organized

The first National Canine Seminar was organized by the National Security Guards (NSG) in Manesar, Haryana on 7th Sept 2017. The theme of the conference is “Canine as a tactical weapon in the fight against terrorism”. The main objective is to discuss and deliberate on the techniques of dog training and strategy of deploying dogs in counter terrorism and counter insurgency situations.

Engineless glider sets new world record

The Airbus Perlan 2 aircraft has set a new altitude world record for a glider, climbing to 52,172 feet. This new record was set on 3rd Sept 2017 at El Calafate in Argentina. The Perlan 2 is a compose intensive engineless glider designed to fly at the edge of space using stratospheric mountain waves. The aircraft soared to an incredible 52,172 feet without the help of engines. The earlier record was held by Parlan 1 which had climbed to 50,727 feet in 2006.
  
Punjab National Bank and BSNL join hands to launch Speed pay

The PSU Bank Punjab National Bank and BSNL have come together to launch Speed pay, an open mobile wallet. This was rolled out in 10 States across the Country on 9th Sept 2017. PNBs Speed pay wallet will operate like any other mobile wallet. Customers will be able to pay bills, recharge mobiles, withdraw and deposit cash from authorized retail outlets. BSNL will support the venture in 10 states. Speed pay users can also have access to the Internet on this application.

United Bank of India waives processing fees on retail loans

In a limited period offer (up to 31st Dec 2017), the United Bank of India has waived off processing fees on retail loans. While Home Loans, Car Loans, and Two wheeler loans will get a 100% waiver of processing fees, the Mortgage Loans, Gold Loans, and personal loans will have a 50% waiver of processing fees.

Amazon India opens largest fulfilment centre in Hyderabad

Amazon India has opened its largest fulfillment centre at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. This was done on 8th Sept 2017. The new facility has a carpet area of 400,000 square feet along with an average storage space close to 2.1 million cubic feet. The facility is to enable faster deliveries in the region.

New species of edible freshwater fish discovered in Pampa river of Kerala

A new species of edible freshwater fish named Labio filiferous has been discovered in the Pampa river in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. Two Researchers one from Kollam and the other from Slovenia have reported the discovery in the latest issue of Bioscience Journal. The fish belongs to the Labeo genus.

A.B. Pandey has given additional charge as GSTN chairman

Ajay Bhushan Pandey, the CEO of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been given additional charge as the Chairman of the GSTN Network. This is with the immediate effect. He succeeds Navinkumar, whose tenure as GSTN Chairman ended on 29th August 2017.

Abay Firodia appointed as SIAM President  

The Chairman of Force Motors, Abay Firodia, has been appointed as the President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. Mahindra and Mahindra’s Rajan Wadhera has been elected as Vice President. Maruthi Suzuki’s Kenichi Ayukawa has taken over as the Treasurer.

Veteran Kannada Actor Sudarshan Passes Away

The famous veteran Kannada Actor R.N. Sudarshan passed away in Bengaluru on 8th Sept 2017. He was 78 and was ailing for some time.



Nadal wins third US Open Title 

Spain’s Rafael Nadal won his third US Open Men’s Tennis Title beating Kevin Anderson of South Africa in the final played on 10th Sept 2017. This was his 16th Grand Slam title. Earlier, the women’s single title was taken by Sloane Stephens of the USA who beat Madison Keys.
