**Data Interpretation Question for the IBPS Clerk 2017 Exam**

**Data Interpretation Question:**

The table shows the discount percentage given by stores on different items. The market price of these articles in all the stores is the same.

In this table, some values are missing. Answer the questions given below on the basis of the given table and information in the question.

**Explanation:**The discounts are given on different articles by different stores.

**Data Analysis:**There are 3 stores and three different articles for each store.

Market Price = 100% = Same on all stores

Discount = D%

Selling Price = 100 – D%

**Data Interpretation Question 1:**If the average SP of the article by II in all the stores is Rs. 2568, find the MP of article II.
1) Rs. 3200 2) Rs. 4500 3) Rs. 3600 4) Rs. 4300 5) Rs. 4000

**Solution:**

**Step 1:**MP

_{II}(second article) = 100%

**Selling price in each store:**

Store A = 100 – 28 = 72

Store B = 100 – 18 = 82

Store C = 100 – 40 = 60

**Step 2:**Total Selling Price = 72 + 82 + 60 = 214%

**Step 3:**214%/ 3 = 2568

100% = ?

By cross multiplication,

**214%/ 3 = 2568**

**100% = ?**

= 2568 x 3 x100/ 214

= 3600

**Therefore, the correct answer is option 3, Rs. 3600.**

**Data Interpretation Question 2:**Difference between SP article I by stores A and B is Rs. 486, Find the SP of the same article by store C.

1) Rs.3506 2) Rs. 4005 3) Rs. 4808 4) Rs. 4104 5) Rs. 3205

**Solution:**

**Step 1:**Let us assume the Market Price for the first article is 100.

MP

_{I}= 100**Selling price in each store:**

Store A = 100 – 16 = 84

Store B = 100 – 07 = 93

Store C = 100 – 24 = 76

**Step 2:**Difference between the selling price of article I in stores A and B

**93% - 84% = 486**

**76% = ?**

**Step 3:**By cross multiplication,

**93% - 84% = 486**

**76% = ?**

? = 486 x 76/ 9

? = 4104 (Use Unit digit method to increase your speed in IBPS Clerk Exam)

**Therefore, the correct answer is option 4, Rs.4104.**

**Data Interpretation Question 3:**Average SP of article III by stores A and B is Rs.3608, by stores B and C is 3300. Find the SP of article III by store C.

1) Rs. 2984 2) Rs.3122 3) Rs.3080 4) Rs. 2764 5) Rs.3452

**Solution:**

**Step 1:**

**Let us assume that the discount given for the store B to be as d%**

Total selling price of A and B store = 2 x 3608 = 84% + 100 – d% = 184 – d% (equation 1)

Total selling price of store B and C = 2 x 3300 = 70% + 100 – d% = 170 – d% (equation 2)

By subtracting equation 1 and 2 (-) = 2 x (308)= 14%

**Step 2:**

**2 x (308) = 14%**

**? = 70%**

**Step 3:**By cross multiplication,

**2 x (308) = 14%**

**? = 70%**

70 x 2 x 308/ 14 = 3080

**Therefore, the correct answer is option 3 - Rs.3080.**

**Data Interpretation Question 4:**Stores A earned 10% profit earned by selling product V. If CP of articles at all stores is same, find the ratio of profit by B and C in selling V

1) 6: 15 2) 9: 16 3) 8: 15 4) 6: 13 5) 9: 14

**Solution:**

**Step 1:**

**Assume MP = 100**

Selling price of store A = 88% of 100 = 88

Selling price of store B = 89% of 100 = 89

Selling price of store C = 94% of 100 = 94

Profit = 10%

=> Selling price = 110% of Cost price

Hence, Cost price = 80

**Step 2:**

**Profit price of store A = 88 - 80 (Cost Price) = 8**

Profit price of store B = 89 - 80 (Cost Price) = 9

Profit price of store C = 94 - 80 (Cost Price) = 14

**The ratio of the profit of the store B and C = 9:14**

**Therefore the correct answer is option 5 = 9:14**
