# Number System VI – List of Exponent Formulas with solved examples for IBPS PO Exam

In this post, we will discuss the list of Exponent Formulas with few solved examples which will help you save time in IBPS PO Exam
Remembering Exponent Formulas is one of the biggest tasks in IBPS PO Exam. Staying awake at night to memorise the formula or forgetting the exponent formulas is a very common problem among the aspirants. In this post, we will discuss the basics of exponents, List of exponent formulas with solved examples which will help you save time and pick up speed in IBPS PO Exam.

Before moving on further, quickly revise the basics of Number System to understand the structure of numbers.
What is Exponent and Powers?

Exponents are the repeated multiplication of any number. The number 1,00,000 can be written as 105. Thus, when 10 is multiplied 5 times we get 1,00,000. It is read as 10 raised to the power of 5.

The distance between the Sun and Earth is 149,6900,000 km.
The mass of the Sun is 1,989,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg.
The size of the hydrogen atom is 0.00000000000106m.
Do you see how huge these numbers are? Can you memorize them? Therefore, with the help of exponents and powers, these numbers can be compressed and can be easily expressed in powers of 10.

Distance between the Sun and the Earth 149,600,000 = 1.496× 10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10× 10 × 10 = 1.496× 108 kilometers.

Mass of the Sun: 1,989,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg = 1.989 x 1030 kg
Size of a hydrogen atom: 0.00000000000106 meters = 1.06 × 10-12 meters.

List of Exponent Formulas

Exponent Example solved using Exponent Formulas

Question: 20.2 x 64 x 81.3 x 40.2 = 8?

Solution:
Step 1:
In this question, we need to find the power of 8. As we know, the base of the right-hand side should be equal to the left-hand side; we need to make all the bases equal.

20.2 and  40.2  can be expressed as
am x bm =  (a x b)m
(2 x 4)0.2

Step 2:
(2 x 4)0.2 x 64 x 81.3 = 8?
80.2 x 64 x 81.3 = 8?

Step 3:
We know that 64 can be expressed in the power of 8
64 = 82

Step 4:
80.2 x 82 x 81.3 = 8?
This can be expressed as,
am x an = am + n
80.2 + 2 + 1.3
83.5

Therefore,  8? = 83.5
