Aspirants selected for the post of Assistant in RBI will be initially posted in RBI's Office within the Recruitment Zone for which they had applied. However, they are liable to be transferred in administrative exigencies to centres grouped and classified into West, South, North and East Zone offices.

Eligibility criteria


1. Age Limit:
Candidates applying for the post should be between 20 and 28 years as on November 8, 2016. Candidates born not earlier than November 8, 1988, and not later than November 7, 1996 (both days including), are only eligible to apply.  Age relaxation is provided to the candidates belonging to different categories as per government rule.

2. Essential educational qualification:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with minimum 50 per cent marks in the aggregate (pass class for SC/ST/PWD candidates) as on November 7, 2016. Candidates should also possess knowledge of word processing on PC.

3. Language proficiency: 
Candidates applying for a post in a particular recruiting office should be proficient in the language (i.e., know how to read, write, speak and understand the language) of the state/any of the states falling under the recruiting office.

Selection procedure

Selection for the post of RBI Assistant 2016 will be done through a nationwide competitive examination. The examination will be conducted in three phases – Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.

The Preliminary Examination of RBI Assistant 2016 will comprise of three papers – Reasoning Ability (35 marks), English Language (30 marks) and Numerical Ability (35 marks) of 100 marks. The time duration of this objective-type exam would be one hour.

The Main Examination of RBI Assistant 2016 will comprise of 5 papers- Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge of 40 marks each totalling it to 200 marks. The time duration of this objective-type exam would be two hours. This would be followed by an Interview of 35 marks.

The above-mentioned main online tests, except the Test of English Language, will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi. Candidates have to qualify in Preliminary Examination for appearing in the Main Examination. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests (Preliminary and Main examination). 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
