How to Prepare for LIC AAO 2016

India's largest Insurance Corporation in the Govt. sector offers a huge opportunity for all those aspiring to be in the Insurance field.  There are a total of 700 vacancies across India for the post of Assistant Administrative Officers (AAOs). The notification for 2016 is already out. The tentative dates for Online Examination are 5th, 6th and 13th March 2016.

What is the selection Process?

The selection is of two stages – the first one is a Written Online Examination. Those shortlisted in the written exam will be asked to appear for a Personal Interview followed by a medical test before finalization.

What are the subject covered in the online exam?

Online Examination will be of 120 Minutes (2 Hours) duration. It is of objective type and the pattern is as follows,

Is there a penalty for wrong answers?

Yes, for every question that is answered wrong, 1/4th of the marks assigned to that question is deducted. However, there is no penalty for not answering the question. So assess your confidence quotient carefully and then choose to answer the question.


Is there a sectional Cutoff?

Yes. You must pass individually in each of the sections above and also get minimum marks in the aggregate to qualify for the interview. 


What is the typical syllabus for the examination?

In a competitive exam, it is difficult to clearly define the syllabus. However, based on the previous exams, you can broadly note the following topics in the above mentioned sections for studying in the exams.

General Knowledge & Current Affairs Syllabus for LIC AAO:
It is extremely difficult to list syllabus for an open subject like current affairs and general knowledge. The only way you can prepare for this is on a daily basis. Keep yourself updated with daily news and events. Develop a habit of reading important national newspapers and magazines. However, focus on the following can yield good result.

  • New appointments, 
  • News about important people, 
  • developments in Sports, Industry, Agriculture, 
  • National and international news.
General Knowledge: This includes knowledge about 
  • capitals of the countries, 
  • Heads of the Countries, 
  • Currencies, 
  • famous places, 
  • accreditations like being First, Highest, Largest, Longest etc.

Even though marks in this section are not counted for final scores, it is important to clear this section for getting qualified. Key topics to be focused include,
